curiosity led me to my first yoga class at the age of 21. intuitively knowing it would be a tremendous part of my life, i continued practicing.
in march 2002, i completed the yoga teacher training at white lotus foundation. those two weeks were the most liberating, transformational experience of my life. for the first time, i truly connected with self. i discovered the power to make choices from a place within, a place from which i could heal, a place from which i could love in a way I had never loved before. i found solitude. i found truth. my heart opened, my soul was set free and i was forever changed.
we are all on our own path, learning lessons we need in order to become the most amazing version of ourselves. with each challenge, we have the choice to run away and avoid the pain or embrace it and grow as an individual. yoga connects us to a deeper place that contains all we need to dance through life without struggle or force and to surrender to what is happening without resistance. in this place, we are stripped of illusion and shown who we truly are without the masks. when we look within and nurture our spirit's needs, rather than searching for answers outside ourselves, we unleash our personal power and free ourselves from self-destruction and toxic behavioral patterns. this is where true healing begins.
healthy relationships are constant reminders of who we are. they consist of openness and boundaries, strength and grace, vulnerability and power, truthfulness and understanding, compassion and freedom, unconditional love and self-expression, laughter and tears, listening and sharing, giving and receiving and the liberty to be authentic. our connection with self is essential to our connection with the world.
my personal practice keeps me balanced, open, grounded and strong. it reminds me to stay true to myself at all times, regardless of circumstance. teaching gives me an incredible sense of connection, insight and understanding. i have studied vinyasa flow yoga with ganga white and tracey rich, meditation with jonathan bowra, ashtanga yoga with paul dallaghan, completed the advanced teacher training with ana forrest and have been inspired by various teachers including sarah paxton, vinnie marino and seane corn. i now teach and live in san diego.
