to love. to be loved. to never forget your own insignificance. to never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. to seek joy in the saddest places. to pursue beauty to its lair. to never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. to respect strength, never power. above all, to watch. to try and understand. to never look away. and never, never to forget.

love & grace

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

within you is a place of love and grace.

it is a place without fear

where there is no need to defend or prove,

no need to lie or hide.

from this place springs words of truth,

actions of courage,

and a life of love.

wait patiently for the voices of fear in your mind

to cease their frantic call to action.

become aware of what the next clear step of love might be.

be patient with yourself.

the qualities of a lover

do not depend on externals.

they take root in your own soul

and grow as your attend to them.

they all lie within you.

by william martin

a person’s worth is contingent upon who he is, not upon what he does, or how much he has. the worth of a person, or a thing, or an idea, is in being, not in doing, not in having.

the path into the light seems dark.

the path forward seems to go back.

the direct path seems long.

true power seems weak.

true purity seems tarnished.

true steadfastness seems changeable.

true clarity seems obscure.

the greatest art seems unsophisticated.

the greatest love seems indifferent.

the greatest wisdom seems childish.
